As we all know the Flying Tailplane, better known as the Stabilator is a unique design but can also be a dangerous control surface.  100% Balancing was a big issue.  I've seen so many people repairing the Tailplane and not balancing it afterwards. Flutter at the higher speeds anticipated for the Ravin posed a potential problem with the stabilator concept. For the same reason Commanche introduced the Vne extender mod (horns), which added immense weight aft of the aircraft.  These are some of the reasons I opted for the fixed Horizontal Stabilizer with a 100% balanced elevator controlled by a pushrod from the Elevator Bellcrank and we had a huge success with this idea.
